Festive Home Visits – Dragon Boat Festival Home Visits
Festive Home Visits – Dragon Boat Festival Home Visits 25/05/2017 About 50 Sino Caring Friends joined the 'Dragon Boat Festival Home Visits’ on 23 and 25 May, presenting festive gifts to 120 underprivileged families in Sham Shui Po and Tsuen Wan.
‘We would like to thank Sino Caring Friends for their continued support to the underprivileged families in Sham Shui Po. Among the four Festive Home Visits rendered this year, the Dragon Boat Festival Home Visits was the most testing, as volunteers had to climb up to rooftop in tenement buildings on hot summer days. In addition to festive gifts, the volunteers brought support and encouragement,’ says Sze Lai-shan, Community Organizer, the Society for Community Organization.
This service was rendered with support from Asbury Methodist Social Service, Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association Sham Shui Po Integrated Social Service Centre and Society for Community Organization.
New Territories Walk 2017
New Territories Walk 2017 26/02/2017 About 370 colleagues of Sino Group and their family members and friends participated in the ‘New Territories Walk 2017’ organised by The Community Chest of Hong Kong on 26 February (Sunday) to raise funds for 24 member social welfare agencies of The Community Chest in providing family and child welfare services. The 6-km Walk started at Ma On Shan Sports Centre, proceeded along the Ma On Shan Waterfront Promenade and finished at MTR University Station.

Go Code 2016 Graduation Ceremony and Exhibition
Go Code 2016 Graduation Ceremony and Exhibition 18/02/2017 The Group launched the Go Code Programme in 2014 to provide free coding courses for children from underprivileged families to help them unleash creativity and code for a brighter future. The third edition of the Go Code Programme concluded at end-2016 and a graduation ceremony was held on 18 February 2017 at Olympian City. Ir Allen Yeung, JP, Government Chief Information Officer, The Office of the Government Chief Information Officer; Professor Chan-Hung Shek, Director of the Office of Education Development and Gateway Education, the City University of Hong Kong, as well as Mr Daryl Ng, Executive Director, Sino Group officiated at the graduation ceremony.
The number of participants has grown from about 20 in the first year to more than 300 in 2016. Over 300 Primary 4 to 6 students from underprivileged families in Sham Shui Po, Yau Tsim Mong and New Territories West participated in the 2016 programme. In addition to learning logical thinking and problem solving skills, the programme also aims to train students’ communication skills through group assignments and presentation in class.
