(21/10/2009, Hong Kong) From now till 30 June 2010, local primary and secondary students are invited to The Organic Farm in Yuen Long to experience hands-on farming and organic living. Organised by Sino Group as part of the 'Sino Green Explorer' programme, the initiative aims to promote environmental awareness and healthy lifestyles. An 'Organic Lifestyle Design Competition' is also open for entry now to encourage students to exercise their creativity and apply their knowledge of organic farming to their daily lives.
25,000 students sponsored already and more to come this year Sino Group has sponsored over 25,000 primary and secondary students to the organic farm tour educational programme for the past three years. This year's tour, the fourth in the series, comprises brand new activities designed to give students a better understanding of the ecology, food safety and organic living, as well as a hands-on opportunity to try farming organic for themselves. - Learn about organic farming and seasonal produce
- Explore food safety and organic lifestyles
- Experience hands-on farming with traditional farm tools
- Visit a herb garden, learn more about herbs
- Brew herbal tea and try herb gardening
| Each participant will receive a limited edition copy of the Organic Farming and Herbs Planting Fun Guide booklet.
See the precious marine life and meet with dolphins
An 'Organic Lifestyle Design Competition' has also been organised to promote thinking about organic farming and lifestyles. Primary and secondary students are welcome to enrol in the designated categories, namely diary design, recipe design and multimedia development. Winning entries will be exhibited in Sino Group's shopping malls while winners will be awarded book coupons, a certificate and a Hoi Ha Wan Marine Park boat trip or dolphin watch trip organised by WWF Hong Kong. The submission deadline of the competition is 31 March 2010.

About The Organic Farm The Organic Farm located in Pak Heung, Yuen Long is one of the first production farms to receive certification from the Hong Kong Organic Resource Centre. At approximately 250,000 sq ft in size, the farm has stretches of farmland divided into areas for commercial cultivation and community gardening with various organic vegetables and herbs. As a member of IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements) and one of the founding members of SEED (Sustainable Ecological Ethical Development Foundation), The Organic Farm promotes organic farming and sustainable lifestyles by organising a variety of educational tours for schools, corporations and the public.
